Fashion Month Runway Trends To Tap Into Now

Fashion month (and the reverberating news cycle that follows) has drawn to a close. After doubling down on coffee, sifting through coverage and zooming in on runway image details, the trends for Spring/Summer 23 have emerged. While there were a host to choose from, I’m sharing the trends we can actually tap into now.

Cargo Pants

These are not your dad’s cargo pants. High-rise, low-rise, acid washed denim, silk, wide-leg…the options are limitless. Pair them with sweaters, jackets, boots and more for a look that’s stylish and comfortable.

Tailoring

There was a time in fashion history, when pants were purchased with a raw hem - made to measure. Today, most sizes and inseams are measure for us by an algorithm. However, great tailoring will always be king. This season calls for sleek, simple, crisp tailoring for ultra-chic fitting layered looks.

Liquid Gold

The holidays are upon us so this is a trend to tap into now for the perfect evening/cocktail party wear to the upcoming festive gatherings.

Shimmer and Shine

Trench Coats

Ankle to floor-length trench coats are having a moment. Saint Laurent, Bally, Thom Browne and Valentino featured trench coats on the runway. Whether you’re feeling long leather, airy pastel polka dots or a feathered lapel, wearing a trench coat says, “She’s that girl.”

Skinny Pants

Not to be confused with skinny jeans, a pencil or cigarette pant elongates the body and is a solid base for layering.

Blocking Shade

Color blocking is commonplace no matter the season or year. This season, shade mixing was front and center making the runway anything but stale. Instead, designers managed to make a known commodity like color blocking feel contemporary by combining monochrome ready-to-wear with mismatched bags, shoes and accessories in all shades.
